Buhari Congratulates New South African President, Salutes Zuma For Statesmanship

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the new President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa on his election and swearing-in  today, Thursday.

The President, who also salutes the leadership and statesmanship of former President Jacob Zuma, wished him the best in his future endeavours.

In a statement today in Abuja, the senior special assistant to the President on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu said that Buhari also rejoiced with the African National Congress (ANC)), and the Government and people of South Africa, on the peaceful transfer of power that resulted in the election of President Ramaphosa.

The statement said that President Buhari is eager to work with the new President of South Africa towards enhancing cooperation of the Governments of Africa’s two leading economies.

President Ramaphosa was sworn-in today as the new South African leader following the resignation, yesterday, Wednesday, of Jacob Zuma after his relationship with his [arty, ANC, went fell apart.
