Borno Commissioner Of Environment Dies At 54

Borno State Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Waziri Imam, is dead. He died on Tuesday at the age of 54.

Secretary to Borno State Government, Usman Jidda Shuwa, announced the Commissioner’s death in a statement today, Wednesday.

The Commissioner, who is a younger brother to an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Kashim Imam, died after a brief illness in Maiduguri. His remains were buried yesterday, Tuesday.

He was survived by a widow and six children.

Meanwhile, the state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima has returned to Maiduguri from Bama where he relocated to a couple of weeks ago to inspect the reconstruction work in destroyed communities after his visit to Chibok, Gwoza, Askira-Uba and Damboa Local Government areas, all in southern Borno.

The governor was in Chibok to assess reconstruction works and interact with some stakeholders, but was forced to return to Maiduguri with the death of his Commissioner. [myad]
