A 40 year old Henry Anaele of number 72, Goodness Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos has been remanded in prison for allegedly beating his wife to death, whom he accused of collecting the sum of N200 from another man without his permission.
A police prosecutor, Inspector Cousin Adams had told the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, that the accused committed the offence on June 15, about 11.45 pm, at No. 72, Goodness Estate, Satellite Town, Lagos.
He said that the accused had found out that someone gave his 35 year old wife, Chinyere, the sum of N200, which did not go down well with him.
“This angered the accused who beat up his wife to death for collecting the money.”
He said that the offence contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which prescribes a death sentence for offenders.
The Chief Magistrate, O.O. Olatunji, said that the accused should be remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons pending advice from the State Director of Public prosecutions (DPP).

The magistrate adjourned the case to August 6.
