Election Sequence: Senate Surrenders

Senate has surrendered over its move to amend sequence of elections in Nigeria. The bill was sponsored by Senator Suleiman Nazif .
The bill tilted: “An act to amend the provisions of the Electoral Act No. 6, 2010 to make provisions for the sequence of elections in Nigeria.”
In the Senator Nazif presentation on the amendment,  he proposed the conduct of Governors and State House of Assembly in the first week and follow by the National Assembly elections while the Presidential election to be conducted last.
The President, Muhammadu Buhari refused his assent to the bill a fortnight ago and was returned to the Senate which tried to use majority to veto the President.
The Senate was stopped from doing so by a court of law.
