Buhari Remembers Great Role Jerry Rawlings Played In Stabilizing Ghana’s Democracy

President Muhammadu Buhari has acknowledged the great role the late Jerry Rawlings played in stabilizing democracy in Ghana where he held sway as President for about a decade.

In condolence message today, November 12 on the death of  the 73 years old former Ghanaian strong man, Buhari emphasized the unique role the former President played in strengthening political institutions in his country and Africa.

He recalled that late Jerry Rawlings stimulated the economy for sustainable growth, and vociferously championed the African cause by urging many leaders to work towards interdependency on the global stage, especially in areas of competitive advantage.

The Nigerian leader said that the passion, discipline and moral strength with which the former Ghanaian leader employed to reposition his country over many years would continue to reverberate across the continent and beyond.

He said that the entire African continent will sorely miss the sterling qualities of the great leader.

He mourned Jerry Rawlings departure, even as he assured that the ideas that Rawlings postulated, particularly for development in Africa, and his sacrifices in working in various countries as an envoy for peace and democracy will always be remembered.
