Jonathan Looks Forward To Working With New Malawian, Egyptian Presidents

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan looks forward to working with the new Malawian President, Mr. Peter Mutharika to strengthen and expand areas of bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Malawi.

In a congratulatory message he sent to Mutharka today, President Jonathan said he was happy with the victory the Malawian President secured in the recent election in the country.

He said that Mutharika’s statesman-like extension of hands of fellowship to his predecessor and other leaders of the Malawian opposition in the aftermath of his election was heartwarming, and called on all Malawians to set aside their political differences and work in harmony with their new leader for peace, political stability and national development.

President Jonathan said that he expecteds that the cordial and mutually-beneficial relations between Nigeria and Malawi which blossomed in recent years, will continue to grow under President Mutharika’s leadership.

President Jonathan also congratulates Mr. Abdulfattah Al-Sisi on his emergence as Egypt’s President-Elect in the country’s recent presidential elections.

He advised the new President to fully dedicate himself  to ending years of political turmoil in Egypt by working diligently for national reconciliation, peace, political stability and socio-economic development in the country.

President Jonathan assured Mr. Al-Sisi of the support and cooperation of the Federal Government of Nigeria and looks forward to working with him to maintain and enhance the excellent bilateral relations, which have long existed between Nigeria and Egypt.

The Nigerian leader called on the people of Egypt to see the present moment as a new beginning for their country, and come together to work with other African countries to move the continent forward. [myad]
