Rivers State branch of All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarm over what it called the underhand game being played by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. Gesila Khan in carhoot with the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Nyeson Wike.
In a statement today, the state chairman of APC, Dr. Ikanya made it clear that any result sheet after tomorrow and next week’s election that is not countersigned by APC’s agents would be rejected by the party.
This is because, he alleged, there is an indication that the Rivers REC Mrs. Gesila Khan has handed over the original copies of the INEC result fortomorrow’s election to the PDP gubernatorial candidate at an undisclosed location in Port Harcout.
According to Dr. Akanya, Mrs. Khan has designed photocopies of the original result sheets and distributed them to the Electoral Officers (EO) for use.
“The idea is to give the coloured photocopies to the EOs while the original result sheets, now with chief wike, will be used to write and allocate results to the parties as Chief Wike deems fit.
“Mrs. khan is so desperate to achieve this evil plot by using every crooked means to justify the $100 million paid into her account by NDDC Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Dr. Henry Ogiri based on the directive of the Presidency that the INEC REC should be comprised to enable her rig the Rivers State election in favour of Mr President and chief Wike.
“We raised this plot in our press statement of 18th March, 2015 titled, “2015: NDDC CHIEF MOVES TO BUY VICTORY FOR JONATHAN AND WIKE •How he bribed Rivers REC” which after ten days, Mrs. Khan has not refuted this weighty allegation.
He said that in order to achieve what he called “this wicked plot” to deny the rivers State People the powers to elect their Leaders, “the Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner by yesterday directed Electoral Officers in specific LGA’s to create special 5 cluster centers in Obio/Akpor, Port Harcourt City,Ogba Egbema Ndoni,Khana and Gokana. The intention is to accredit and thumb print specific number of votes for PDP and smuggle it in during voting.
“As we pray Mrs. khan not to drag the good name of INEC to the mud because of her greediness, we wish to state emphatically that any result sheet not countersigned by our Agents will not be accepted by us as a political party.”
