Governor El-Rufai Reduces Number Of Commissioners From 24 To 13

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has indicated that he would reduce the number of ministries, and therefore, commissioners from the 24 which the immediate past governor maintained to 13.

Under the arrangement, according to a statement today by the Special Assistant for Media and Publicity to the Governor, Samuel Aruwan, the Minister for Lands, Survey and Country Planning will be moved to the Governor’s Office as a department while the Ministry for Rural and Community Development will become a department of the Deputy Governor’s office.

The statement said that the information Ministry will no longer be centralized but instead, each ministry will have it’s own Public Relations unit that is connected to the Office of the Chief Executive.

The statement disclosed that, the Governor will also limit the number of aides whom the 13 commissioners will be allowed to recruit.

The new ministries will be made up of the Ministry of Justice, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry, Youth, Sports and Culture, Local government, Environment and Natural Resources; and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Water Resources, Health and Human Services, Ministry for Education, Science, and Technology, The Ministry for Finance, Works, Housing, and Transport. and the Ministry for Budget and Planning.
