Saraki Dribbles APC To Become Senate President

SarakiSenator Bukola Saraki played a high political game today, diverting 57 Senators out of 108 from the International Conference Centre in Abuja where President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to meet with the Senators-elect under All Progressives Congress (APC), to the National Assembly to get them vote for him as new senate President.
His election, which was done in a jiffy before the other Senators-elect could find their way to the Senate chamber, was the high point of the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly today.
The Saraki loyalists also quickly elected Senator Ike Ekwerenmadu of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Deputy Senate President.
The immediate past Senate President, Senator David Mark became the minority leader. [myad]
