The deceased who was the vicar general of the Otukpo Catholic Diocese, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen about two months ago after which the sum of N2 Million was paid as ransom to the abductors.
But despite the payment of the ransom, the kidnappers still killed him and dumped his body in a nearby bush behind the Secretariat of the Otukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area.
Information had it that his body was found after police and villagers had searched around the various bushes in the area.
The Benue State Government was believed to have made an additional offer of N5 Million to anyone who could supply information on his whereabouts until his body was discovered.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State, ASP Moses Yamo, confirmed the story, saying that police would do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book. [myad]
